OBDC Small Business Finance was established as the Oakland Business Development Corporation in 1979 and has since expanded to become the leading alternative business lender in Northern California and the greater Bay Area. We are a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status.

In 2005, OBDC helped over 80 businesses access more than $4 million in small business loans, both through our loan programs and the help of our partner banks. Since our founding, we have helped start and expand thousands of businesses that have created jobs and resources for the communities in which they operate.
